Body Mass Index (BMI) is a mathematical formula based on the relationship between a person's height and weight.Knowing your BMI will help you get a rough idea of what your body fat measurements might be.BMI is a reliable indicator of body fatness for people.
So,how do you calculate BMI.Here is a formula:
Divide your weight in Kg by height(Meter):
Example: Weight = 71 kg, Height = 165 cm (1.65 m)
Calculation: 71÷[ (1.65)*(1.65)] = 26.0789
In pounds and inches:
Divide weight(lb) by [height (in)]2 x 703
Calculate BMI by dividing weight in pounds (lbs) by height in inches (in)square and multiplying by a conversion factor of 703.
Example: Weight = 155 lbs, Height = 5’6” (65")
Calculation: [155 ÷ (65*65)] x 703 = 26.781

BMI Weight Status:
Below 18.5------------->Underweight
18.5 – 24.9------------>Normal
25.0 – 29.9------------>Overweight
30.0 and Above--------->Obese
